This is good, but I think the biggest problem it has would be making the background and the foreground come together as one. It is a coloring issue, and it just needs to be practiced on. Also, if you want to create the illusion of nightfall with a background like that, you're going to have to play with value a little bit in the grass. It's all one solid color. But I applaud the fact that you included a background in your piece. If you haven't noticed, not a whole lot of artists do that if they can help it.

I see you're using markers for the coloring. If you are unconfident with coloring, I'd suggest to start with color pencil. It's all based on layers so you'll build the character as you add layer after layer after layer. It takes a while, but an excellent learning experience.

Actually, I don't use markers, I use colored pencils. The background for that picture was done in photoimpression, which seems to be the photoshop impersonator. I screwed around with the whole thing for about three hours before just quitting. I hate to color anything, be it digitally or with markers and colored pencils. Coloring and shading are concepts I just can't quite grasp. The picture looked so musch better when it was just a sketch.
